Black Basalt Decomposed Granite 3/8" Minus Prices For TruckLoad Per Ton
12-25 Tons per shipment required for this price. We offer a Split Load Option from this quarry. 1 Ton is approximately 2,000 lbs.
Central California Quarry This is a very attractive black grey crushed basalt stone fine material produced by a quarry in Central California. This crushed black basalt material packs down very well for pathways, patios, and other surfaces where decomposed granite is used. The strong black-grey color of this material provides an extra design element as a contrasting or complementary dark color not often found in landscape materials.
Tons vs. Yards and Square Feet. In most cases we charge by the ton and we have the receipts from the scale house at the quarry to show upon request. Materials sold by the yard tend to have very in-accurate amounts in the trucks. Amounts depend the size of the loader bucket, how well the material was scooped up and who was supervising the loading of the truck. Scale House totals don't lie, so why take a chance on losing money and time with how many square feet, scoops, skips and or dumps were made in loading the truck?Architects, public agencies, contractors and owner-builders requiring a competitive bid for the materials and transport costs should E-mail us with material specifications, amount and date needed and buyers contact information. Decomposed granite, crushed rock, gravel, sand and similar materials are typically hauled in; Truck n Transfers - 24 to 26.5 tons, End-dumps - 18 to 24 tons Super-10's from 10 to 17 tons Flatbed trailers - 8 to 24 tons in SuperEarth-sacks LTL FedEx, UPS, Central Freight and similar trucks - 1 to 8 tons in SuperEarth-sacks

Product Specifications and Uses
A proper DG surface does not move underfoot like sand or gravel, but its porosity allows water to penetrate to the soil below. That aspect makes DG or crushed stone fines a good paving material around trees and shrubs. Decomposed Granite and Crushed Stone Fines are not the same materials. Decomposed granite has a natural coarse look to it with irregular round quartz pebbles. Crushed stone products tend to be more flat and have a higher amount of fine material. Crushed stone products, granite, sandstone, limestone and others offer a greater array of natural colors to work with than most true decomposed granite materials. Commonly used for; Pathways Driveways, residential Golf cart pathways Bicycle pathways Informal entrances areas Outdoor patio and entertainment areas Decorative landscape borders Utility pavement areas Tree wells . Stabilized D. G. Products Very compatible with dry blended or liquid stabilizers and binders Typical Coverage Rates Decomposed Granite Per Ton As a general rule of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover a little over 90 square feet of an ground area at a 3" depth. Decomposed Granite Per Yard As a general rule 1 cubic yard of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover 120 square feet in a 3" inch layer. A cubic yard of moist crushed stone fines or decomposed granite material weighs more or less 3,000 pounds.
The standard application process is to spread about 2" of DG or crushed stone fines, water it thoroughly then compact it with a water filled sod roller, hand tamper or use a vibra plate it to settle. Then repeat the process with at least another 1" to 2" layer for extra depth for stability.
