Annual Christmas Charity Community Support Through Charitable Giving "Upon this Rock We Give" is a Christmas celebration outreach program to provide food, clothing and gifts to the children and families of the Antelope Valley and High Desert communities. We are accomplishing this through donations from companies in the decorative and construction aggregates industry. We and our partnering vendors, contractors and even competitors are providing some much needed help to those who have the least ability to help themselves, the children in our communities.
Each year we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God and our Lord and Savior, many good people get left behind in the festive spirit and meals. Children of all faiths and non-faith need our help. The very fact that you are on this web site means you have some discretionary income. This is an opportunity to buy some materials that you are interested in and have us direct the money to children in need. In fact, the staff of California Building Material Supply is a mixture of Christians and Muslims; we work with a mutual respect for the faith each person holds and practices. Poverty, illness, hunger, lack of proper shelter, and neglect do not know national or regional boundaries and certainly are not confined by faith or lack thereof.
Upon This Rock We Give Heather Andrews, owner, and Christopher Gilcrest, manager of California Building Material Supply are partnering up with Grace Resources, a non-denominational charity that works through a network of multi-faith churches and groups. In the heavy winter rain of February 2017, our first community project was the installation of a hard rock driveway for Grace Resource Center. To help the homeless and those in need in the Antelope Valley, Grace Resources has two mobile buses consisting of medical and dental units that come weekly to the center in Lancaster, California to help people. Those buses got stuck in the muddy service driveway and had to be towed out. They could not come back until the road was repaired. We partnered with CalPortland Materials to install a new Class II limestone road base for an emergency service road repair.
Upon This Rock We Give is derived from Mathew 16:18....Jesus says to his apostle Peter "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church".......Rock is also a vital metaphor in the Holy Quran......Barren Rocks Versus Fertile Gardens: Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:265 “….And the likeness of those who expend their wealth, seeking God’s good pleasure [believers], while they are certain that God will reward them, is as the likeness of a garden on a height: heavy rain falls on it, and thereupon it doubles its yield of harvest; and if it does not receive heavy rain, soft rain suffices it. And God sees all that you do. ”...........Thus the name of the charitable cause fits as firm and strong as any cornerstone could possibly be.
